How often should I change the sealing and drive belts?
Depends. The type and thickness of the material you seal, as well as the speed and amount of time the machine is running are all factors which determine how often you will need to change your belts. How a machine is operated and maintained are also factors.
We recommend changing the PTFE belt when (1) the band sealer begins to display "spotty" sealing, (2) the user notices that the PTFE belt has been "burnt" or shows worn areas and/or (3) the PTFE belt is broken.
How can I extend the life of the sealing belt?
(1) Use the minimum temperature that will seal your bags
(2) Keep the band clear of any plastic or debris by carefully applying a clean rag over it.
(3) Spraying liquid silicone on the band. The silicone will act as an additional agent against adhesion and help dispel heat away.
(4) Allow the machine to cool by turning off the "sealing heat" while keeping the fan and conveyor running for a few minutes.
